X-OATS: A Co2 neutral company

CO2-neutral means that the operations that you undertake, on balance, do not cause an increase in global CO2 emissions. At X-OATS we ensure that this is possible in a number of ways:

• Locally produced in the Netherlands: By producing locally in the Netherlands we ensure that that there are less Co2 emissions from transport. Generally speaking transport is responsible for significant Co2 emissions. Especially when its coming from really far away countries. At X-Oats this is not the case.
• Only natural ingredients: We only work with natural ingredients. In addition, we do not use any animal products , making X-OATS a vegan breakfast. A sustainable form of food where you have nature’s best interests at heart.
• Using recycled cardboard: Going a step further, we specifically chose recycled cardboard for our packaging. Personally, we hate empty promises. Sustainable must be truly sustainable. With our measures, we do everything within our means to be environmentally conscious.
• Continually striving for a smaller Co2 footprint: Finally, we realizethat there are always opportunities to do even more. Therefore we are constantly looking for new ways to further reduce our CO2 footprint and are not yet satisfied with what we do today.

Putting in place all of these measures means that there are only 0.28kg of Co2 emissions per bag of X-Oats. This is 10x lower than a burger meal for example.

Forging a partnership with Climate Partner

To make this all possible we work together with Climate Partner. Together we invest in internationally renown projects against climate change. The purpose is to compensate as much as possible for the Co2 emissions, that at the moment cannot be reduced.

These projects ensure that additional greenhouse gases are absorbed. For example with special reforesting initiatives. By working to replace climate damaging technologies, introducing windmils and solar parks there are significant positive effects.

Currenlty we are busy helping finance a project for clean drinking water in Mozambique. On a yearly basis this will reduce Co2 emissions by at least 180,000kg.

Sustainable Food with X-Oats

Sustainable food is a relatively new concept. There are several ways to give substance to the concept.

On one hand sustainable eating is made possible through chosing a vegan breakfast. Precisely what X-Oats has to offer. From animal products more than 52 x Co2 is emitted. With a vegan alternative there is therefore a lot to gain.

At the same time sustainable eating also stands for no food waste. One of the benefits of X-Oats is that it has one year of shelf life.

Every year 6 million tons of food is thrown in the bin in the Netherlands and Belgium. A deadly sin, especially when you think of the unneccesary Co2 emitted during its production (and disposal).
